Easy recipe for homemade and traditional rice pudding

Today's recipe is one of my favorite desserts : rice pudding. It is very simple to prepare, although you have to be patient since we must let the rice pudding cook for almost an hour.

But the wait is worth it. After letting it cool we will have a delicious dessert that we won't be able to stop eating.

This particular recipe is a variant of the one my grandmother made years ago . She first let the milk boil before adding the cinnamon sticks and lemon peel.

However, after trying different ways of preparing this recipe, I like the way it turns out best by putting boil all the ingredients together From the beginning.

Normally, I like it too add orange peel next to the lemon. Unfortunately I didn't have oranges at home today.

How to make creamy rice pudding

  1. We wash and dry the lemon. We cut a few pieces of lemon without the white part since it can be bitter.
  2. In a saucepan we add the liter of milk, the 100 grams of rice, the cinnamon stick and the pieces of lemon peel.
  3. We let it cook over low heat for approximately 45-50 minutes. During this time it is important to stir every 5 minutes to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom.
  4. After this time we add the 70 grams of sugar, stir intensely and let it cook for 10 more minutes.
  5. At that point the rice will be cooked. If we want the rice pudding to be creamier, we leave it for a while longer. Otherwise we take it out of the fire.
  6. We remove the lemon peels and cinnamon. We serve in a container. Normally I like to put rice pudding in small glasses or clay containers. We let it cool outside the refrigerator.
  7. Once it is at room temperature we can store it in the refrigerator until we eat it. Before eating the rice pudding, sprinkle a little cinnamon powder on top to improve the presentation and flavor.
